Kayaking for Women

Clara Ricabal, one of northern California’s most-diverse outdoorswomen,  is a Emergency Room nurse by trade who is out in the field every available moment. She is one of few women participating in major bass tournaments throughout California and the western United States, but her interests go far beyond bass fishing as she also targets salt and freshwater species via boat, surf, or kayak.  She has a passion for hunting as well, and during waterfowl season, can be found in the blind and the field for ducks, geese, and Pacific Brant. Clara was the first woman to represent California on the B.A.S.S. Nation State Team, and has been featured on several episodes on the World Fishing Network. She chronicled her adventures in Catching California, her column in Western Outdoor News. Clara was one of eight women chosen in the US to represent the Recreational Fishing Foundation in their Women Making Waves campaign prior to the 2021 ICAST show. She is also the lone female bass tournament director in northern California, leading the American Bass Association circuit at Clear Lake and Lake Berryessa.  In addition, Clara  speaks, reads and writes in both English and Spanish, opening communication channels to a growing fishing community.
