Fly Fishing Terrestrials and Fly Fishing Stillwaters

Richard has been fly tying and fly fishing for over 40 years. For the last quarter-centery, he has specialized in tying flies for and fishing mountain lakes in Colorado. He demos at The Flyfishing Show, Black Canyon Fly Fishing Show, Western Colorado Fly Fishing Expo, The New Mexico Trout Symposium, the Federation of Fly Fishers National Conclave, clinics at area fly shops, and at TU and FFF chapter gatherings.

Richard is currently a member of the Regal Engineering, Unibobber, River Road Creations and Wasatch Angling Pro Staffs. His fly patterns have been featured in books by Gary LaFontaine, Pat Dorsey, Rick Takahashi, Marty Bartholomew, Bob Dye, Ron Belak, and Jim Schollmeyer and also in Southwest Fly Fishing, Fly Fusion and Colorado Outdoors magazines.

Richard's presentation on stillwaters will cover fly fishing in lakes – the equipment, techniques, and flies to effectively increase your chances. He'll look at the progression of the stillwater season – from ice-out to freeze up.

His talk on terrestrials will detail what food organisms are present and how to imitate them.
