Calling and Hunting Predators; Elk Hunting with Al Morris
Payson-based Allen Morris grew up with a love of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. When he was 15 his father read an article in Outdoor Life about Wayne Carlton and his ability to call elk using a turkey diaphragm call. His father called Wayne that very day. "My life was changed forever," said Morris. "After some one-on-one instruction over the phone from Wayne, no more than three days later I was calling elk in the field myself." Al's talent for calling and hunting elk led to a lifetime career as a professional guide.
Morris won the World Coyote Calling Championship for the fourth time in 2016 with hunting partner Garvin Young; no team has won more. He also won the 2009 World Elk Calling Championship, took first in the Northeastern Elk Calling Championship, and won ISE's very own Best-of-the-West contest. Morris has also previously won the Utah State Bugling Championship and the Northeast Elk Calling Championship.
