It's Your & Your Loved Ones' Lives--Be Ready!

ISE is proud to introduce Jessie Krebs, seminar speaker and host of our new Survival Campsite (booth 615). She says that a difficult childhood was crucible for her dream of escaping to exotic places. Soon after joining the Air Force, Jessie was carrying a backpack almost as heavy as herself up and down mountains in Washington state, learning to teach others how to survive in hostile situations.

After four years as an AF SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) Specialist, Jessie finally got to travel and work overseas while getting a BA in educational psychology.  She’s also had a few outdoor adventures, usually while guiding others on recreational trips in Europe, sometimes while working as a wilderness therapy field guide in the states, and occasionally in the Colorado mountains that she now calls home.

In the last few years she’s been drawn into various media roles as a reality TV personality--History’s “ALONE: season 9” and National Geographic’s “Mygrations”--and online educator (MasterClass). Jessie owns and operates OWLSSkills.com, a school based in Colorado that teaches civilians the global survival and evasion techniques she learned and once taught in the military. Jessie’s focus is on women and marginalized demographics who have a desire to connect, explore and feel safer in outdoor settings—among the city streets, an RV park or backcountry.

Jessie will speak using a Powerpoint show in the Adventure Theater, but also, daily, conduct short clinics in the Expo's new Survival Campsite (booth F704). Topic covered include:

A.   Urban or Wilderness: The Building Blocks of Surviving an Emergency:  Survival is based around core concepts that apply to emergency situations wherever you may be.  Hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, blizzards, stalled cars, as well as backpacking, skiing, or canyoneering in remote locations.  Come learn the 5 basic needs, what they are, and how to utilize them if things get dicey.

B.   Survival Storytime: Common Mistakes and What We Can Learn from Them:  Stories stick with us and can be incredibly informative, helping us focus and remember not to make the same mistakes others have.  Get a quick rundown of the five basic needs and then experience a variety of stories that illustrate where folks went wrong,  often when just  driving down the road or on a "simple" day hike.

C.   The Ultimate Survival Skill: How to Help SAR (Search and Rescue) Find You:  Whether you're standing on your roof watching the water rise, trapped under rubble, lost in the wilderness, or lying broken in a gully somewhere, your overarching goal is to get home safe.  There are 3 primary methods you can use to help SAR find you. Come learn what they are and several techniques you can use in each method.

At the Survival Campsite, Jessie will offer mini-clinics on a variety of topics , including:

--Constructing Simple Shelters
--The 5 Basic Needs of a Survivor
--Making Your Survival Kit
--Scouting Techniques
